Judy-Lynn McGrath and Chris Svirklys are a couple from Bolton who, as avid fitness enthusiasts, enjoy trails near and far. Last weekend they did a mini run/hike on part of the Georgian Trail and then a picnic lunch in Collingwood. Judy-Lynn tells us how the day went…
“Our trails are presently ice covered or muddy where ice has melted. We still need some rain and a couple more weeks for the frost to leave the ground. It will be like this for a few more weeks. In the meantime we did a 5 km run on logging roads and back to pavement near Creemore.
Afterwards we headed to Collingwood for a picnic lunch. We stopped at Press Market for take out. I’m vegan and Chris enjoys plant based so this was a perfect choice. Organic and plant based; contactless + curbside pickup; no wonder it’s so popular! The menu offered salads, sandwiches, bowls, burgers and dessert
We made our selections before driving over to the Bay and set up our fold out hiking chairs near the MUP (Multi Use Path) and shore. The MUP is part of the Georgian trail which runs 34km from Meaford and C-Wood. We will have to bring our bikes next time for a nice day ride.
My vegan Caesar salad and Chris’ vegan “pulled pork” Burrito was the perfect fare for our picnic. We were entertained by an array of walkers, runners, cyclists from our “observation platform”. We spotted an otter and a variety of birds playing and sunning themselves too.
Just a beautiful day by Georgian Bay!”
